Bearberry (Uva ursi) is used for urinary tract infections, cystitis, urethritis, diuresis, constipation, lithuria, dysuria, acidic urine, pyelonephritis and bronchitis.
It has a soothing and astringent effect and marked diuretic action for the bladder and kidneys, and as well as clearing bacterial infections, helps to strengthen and tone the urinary passages.
The Bearberry is a small shrub distributed over the greater part of the Northern Hemisphere, being found in the northern latitudes and high mountains of Europe, Asia and America. In the British Isles, it is common in Scotland and extends south as far as Yorkshire.
