Berberis Aquifolium (oregon grape) is useful for treating digestion, liver and gallbladder complaints, especially as a result of heavy metal complaints or illnesses. It is used to stimulate the appetite, to treat jaundice, arthritis, diarrhoea, dysentery and fever; as a substitute for Goldenseal; as a treatment for skin diseases, prostate infection, to cleanse the blood, stimulate the appetite and digestion, and acts as a mild laxative. It can also be used externally for arthritis, eczema, psoriasis, acne, boils and herpes, and other skin conditions linked to poor gallbladder function.
