‘In October 1999 I had a nasty chest/respiratory virus.
As we were moving I cleaned the shower with a scarf over my
nose and mouth as I've had problems before with cleaners.
November 2nd we moved into our new house but kept being struck
down by the same virus. The third time I could hardly breathe,
had constant pain in my chest and roving pains all over my
body. My fingers were extremely painful and stiff and my brain
didn't function too well. I couldn't stand up and crawled
along the floor and slept most of the time -except at night
when I lay there with my eyes shut as I didn't have the strength
to open them or to sleep. I had many bloods tests, an ecg,
a "breath" test and a chest x-ray. My doctor, who
didn't know me as I rarely visit them, told me (quite condescendingly)
all the tests were negative so there was nothing wrong with
me. I questioned whether it could be ME and she said it may
be Post Viral Fatigue Syndrome and to go home and rest and
it would be gone within 6 months’.
‘With a small family, a new house and husband to look
after I didn't see that as an option. I saw a homeopath for
a year and a half and made progress. In November 2002 I regressed
badly and crossed paths with a Reiki master. I had regular
Reiki healing for just about 18 months and again made good
progress, better than before. What I mean by that is that
I wasn't in bed all the time. I could manage a few weeks of
limited movement – pottering about the house (without
going upstairs too often). I could use the computer and run
my business reasonably effectively. I still couldn't go out
much; or clean the house; go to Tesco's or do any "normal"
expenditure of energy very often. As an example I would often
have to get out of the bath and lie down for half an hour
and dry off naturally and "recover" from taking
a bath! I certainly wouldn't consider going out more than
once a week for a couple of hours, nor drive very far or somewhere
I didn't know. Talking for more than a couple of hours (eg
when the family were here) would tire me out the next day
or two. I would end up in bed for the day with roving pains
all over my body. My normal body temperature was between 99.5and
100 - the pains start at 101. Most of the food I ate went
straight through, sometimes before I'd even finished the meal!
My life had become very restrictive and I didn't plan anything
as I wouldn't know if I'd be in bed then or not’.
At this point I was recommended to Bionetics for a hair test.
Outcome
‘On 14th April 2004 I received the nutritional programme from
Bionetics for a parasite overload. I felt there was improvement in my energy
level and general wellbeing and I lost a stone so I continued
on with the programme . At the end of this programme
I felt a huge improvement. People were commenting about how
well I looked. I didn't lose any more weight but it was stable
(another stone would have been nice!). It is now 6months later
and I feel I can handle
any challenge and accept feeling tired as being "normal"
not the ME returning. I have taken on renovating my Aunt's
house and have painted rooms, helped carry fridge freezers
and other furniture. One of my greatest accomplishments was
to hammer in 196 2" ribbed nails into the floor –
with little ill-effect! Not even considered an option 6 months'
ago. I can now plan things in advance and expect to be able
to carry them through. Someone said it must be very liberating
for me and I can't think of a better word!’
Lisa’s story is not unusual to us and by finding and
tackling each of her burdens she has been able to overcome
her ME successfully. Below you can track the course of events
as they unfolded in Lisa’s case.
