Bionetics:  its science, philosophy and history

Therapies that could not easily be explained by reference to Newton became portrayed as quackery.

In fact, as far back as the late 1800’s Radioesthesia (a version of what we do today) was one of the most popular treatments available in the United States.

Unfortunately helping the body help itself, was not as profitable as selling pharmaceuticals. The powerful new Pharmaceutical/Newtonian lobby campaigned to have anything that did not comply with their new theories banned.

This general attitude prevailed until the latter part of the 20th century.
